I still don't understand being proud of specifically inventing "het Omegaverse" Like the whole point of Omegaverse is it's NOT het, it's just taking the whole thing full circle

wait what i hadn't been following this closely enough to realize this person's claim wasn't even for inventing the actual omegaverse look if general ideas are going to be copyrightable then copyright needs to grow a concept of "inventive step and non-obviousness" like patents.

It kind of does, like Lindsay Ellis points out copyright law has an already clearly established term of art for the concept, "scènes à faire"

It's French for "required scenes", or what I guess nowadays we'd call "genre tropes" Like it's been established that if something becomes familiar enough to audiences that they come to expect it as part of an overall genre, you can't own the copyright on it anymore
