Well tonight I learned, incidentally, about several generations of male depression in my family history with diagnoses and manifestations that are a lot like mine. This might have been useful information before now.

Prevalence of avoidance (of even talking about it) as a coping mechanism seems to have been historically very high. (Similar thing with my family, though I had inferred from awkward silences.)
