Vapor Weyve added,
I agree, with the caveat that in general, there is a lot more vetting and quality control that goes into being an astronaut than being a vlogger, and any vetting and QC that does go into vlogging is not always necessarily done with the end viewer's best interests in mind.
I mean as a former airman I can tell you that most of the QCing of astronaut-adjacent professionals is just "do you love apple pie, do you have a good credit rating, and can you run a marathon"
Well okay but in all seriousness to be an astronaut you either have to have training as a pilot or be a PhD in something
The most defined way to for sure become an astronaut was the pilot track, and that's also the most difficult one -- you needed 1000 hours of flight time in a regular aircraft to even be considered
The mission specialist track is "easier" but much more luck based, you needed expertise in something they needed you for, along with passing all the physicals and everything In the modern era it's usually a PhD + a bunch of other résumé stuff like speaking multiple languages
(In theory you could be an "astronaut" by being a rando who got picked to go up as some kind of stunt, like Christa McAuliffe, who was very lucky before becoming very unlucky)
That said, the fact that, to a certain degree, part of the mission was always the stunt - putting on a show for the folks back home - is a strong argument for your view that human spaceflight was always overrated in terms of practical benefits
