My alternative to yelling at strangers on the internet? Build relationships with people to your left based on common interests and goals. Engage with people you know, respectfully. Make the affirmative case for your position. Organize.

And, again, recognize that attempting to convert never-Biden leftists is a poor use of time and energy that could otherwise be spent on more productive forms of electoral activism.

"Never-Biden leftists" are just Trumpists. Obviously. How naïve are we here? There are two types of interactions in this, again, straight-up culture war: interactions that get Trump elected and interactions that don't get Trump elected.

If you have a way to make an affirmative case that leads to Trump not being elected, I very much encourage you do that. If you are on the Internet telling people to not push back against bad-faith narratives that get Trump elected, you're getting Trump elected.

I'm on the internet telling people not to waste time that could be spent on more productive work having arguments with strangers that aren't going to change anyone's mind. And now I'm going to take my own advice and tap out of this one.

Showing up the radicals prevents the bystanders from changing their minds as the environment around them radicalizes. Absolutely it does. There's mathematical models about how it does. That's why Trumpists are so obsessed with "owning the libs" over consistency or ideas.

Because out here on the Internet it's not about having a consistent, constructive worldview, it's about "winning" each unique interaction. The other guys know this. They borrowed it from fringe channers who were gamifying their online interactions out of boredom.

You are completely surrendering to the Extremely Online trolls' view of how "winning" online works despite the fundamentally pathological nature of their whole worldview Like yeah that's how they see it by why are they right

Like is that what the past four years have actually done to your brain, do you live in a universe where channers were right about every single thing and Trump is a blaring advertisement for their victory and the failure of all normie institutions

Yeah, that already happened. I'm asking how we build an alternative. Because right now there clearly isn't one. We don't know how to stop those communication loops online. We know they work and how they work. We don't know how to stop them.

Well out-trolling the trolls by relentlessly feeding them certainly isn't an alternative, like at all The bizarre thing is you think your call to arms is anything new, like running around with a running term search on Twitter refuting at people isn't already happening
