when i talked about my nose to the ffs surgeon he brought out before and afters of other jewish (also mediterranean etc) trans women who deliberately kept their nose shape through surgery entirely. i still don't know what i'm going to do about it, but that was comforting to see

it means the cultural stereotype generates forms of social pressure & anxiety surrounding the appearance of diasporic jewish women that it doesn't for gentiles... even if we have the same nose. it's not like dysphoria, much less clear to me aesthetics will increase mental health

but also it's not totally disconnected from trans stuff either,,, it's much more severe in my face than my two sisters. all very hard to untangle

There was a episode of Glee where Rachel considers a nose job and gets a bizarre simulated photo of her face with Quinn's nose. Of course the actress playing Quinn is Jewish herself.
