What—are Disney flat-out trying to MURDER film reviewers? Nothing to see here, just the new normal for 2020. (I wish I was exaggerating, but this is a spectacularly foolish if not downright evil policy of Disney’s.)https://twitter.com/AADowd/status/1298288361556369408 …

They're trying to murder the movie, mostly They're forcing the reviewers to choose between their lives and the film's -- they're probably expecting them to pick the former but they don't care that much either way

Like it's actually super clear they don't think this movie is going to make money and they actively dislike it for multiple reasons (it's going to muddle the brand identity of the new X-Men/mutants movies Disney is going to make, it's a lightning rod for controversy bc queer rep)

They're "burning it off" as a contractual obligation they inherited when they bought out Fox while trying not to make it too obvious that's what they're doing

If you've been following this movie it's pretty obvious They pushed this movie back TWO YEARS after they bought out Fox, and openly marketed Dark Phoenix as the "swan song" to the X-Men series Dr pretended this movie didn't exist

And when the April 2020 release date got canceled by COVID-19 they simply refused to mention a new release date at all for months, before dumping it in a terrible slot (competing directly with Bill and Ted, Tenet, and their own Mulan)
