It would be interesting if critics ever made moral stands boycotting or intensely criticizing media that is doing something bad a lot of other media is too when that media DIDN'T also specifically feature a prominent lesbian relationship This is a pattern, you guyshttps://twitter.com/AADowd/status/1298288361556369408 …

It's not even just the second case of this. Remember when during the voice actors strike we were supposed to specifically boycott Life is Strange: Before the Storm and not any other specific games that also used non-unikn labor

That's because BTS was a prequel to a critically acclaimed and much discussed mainstream game originally made with union labor that switched because of the strike

It's not the same as some indie game that had no money and was never going to be union

Yeah but there were other games from studios released with scab labor during that period. Just from the Wikipedia, What Remains of Edith Finch was affected, and yeah, it was a bit more indie, but it also snubbed *John Carpenter* out of a role, which is pretty high profile

Unless I'm reading this wrong, this means a LOT of mainstream games came out with no protest whatsoever using scab laborpic.twitter.com/HnA3ezn7um

Yeah I dunno I guess this is a much clearer instance of a double standard than the New Mutants thing, although it's because Ashly Burch in particular has a huge fan following and her not coming back as Chloe was really big news

Admittedly it's also the "trope inceptor" or whatever as far as I can tell, and I find it hard to generalize from the first instance of a pattern
