He expressed his decision to withdraw both on Twitter and in a call to his local Democratic precinct, but the petition to the Secretary of State has not yet been filed, nor has he kept his promise to issue an official press release

That may be because of the complication that the local press has brought up, that the KS State Constitution says if the Democrats get to edit their ballot after the primary due to unforeseen circumstances, the Republicans get to do the same in response

The GOP had already jumped on this situation by putting forward Wyandotte County GOP treasurer Kristina Smith as a competing write-in candidate to Stan Frownfelter's write-in campaign, and they've made it clear they're going to put her on the ballot if they get the chance

Turning an unopposed general election for the Democrats into an opposed one feels like bad news Especially since you can see how easy the optics would be for the GOP ("Do you want the revenge porn guy, the guy who lost to the revenge porn guy, or a woman?")

Strategically the better move for the Dems might be to let Coleman stay on the ballot, and then resign on day one and put a replacement in then ...But that's putting a lot of trust in Coleman
