Though it says a lot that the fact that he was facing obscenity charges for this—which is considerably less contemptible than Coleman's myriad transgressions—whereas the latter walks around scot-free with no fear for his freedom really goes to show a lot about Coleman's privilege

The thing is, setting aside the fact that running for a SC senate seat is orders of magnitude more ambitious than running for a KS state house seat, Alvin Greene was unambiguously more qualified to hold office than Aaron Coleman He wasn't a teenager, for one thing, he was 33

He came from a family who apparently had real enthusiasm about elevating the participation of Black people in politics (indeed, Greene was the first Black candidate to be nominated for a US senate seat in SC) He had a bachelor's degree in political science

Another commonality he has with Coleman is that he was clearly a troubled, underfunctional person who wanted to go into the military to salvage himself He'd been in the Air National Guard, the same branch Coleman reports he intends to go into, for seven years from 1995-2002

Following that, he was in the active duty AF as an intelligence specialist from 2002-2005, before jumping to the Army National Guard for a blink and slipping into the active duty army for another two years as a supply specialist We're hitting ALL the bases you hear me talk about

(You might not be able to see this man as vividly as I can, based on this information, from my own experiences He embodies the way militaries jury-rig poor and disenfranchised outcasts to have utility We're all just broken computers, being put to the purpose of mining bitcoin)

There's an uncited allegation in Greene's Wikipedia article that he was a mediocre NCO because he "lacked organization and was unable to express thoughts clearly". But given that he received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal—a medal I also have—he was probably inoffensive

If he did indeed get poor performance reviews as an Air Force NCO, I would allege that this was the intersection of Greene's Blackness, and his being seemingly neurodivergent He probably wasn't a great leader! But he was probably an adequate enough Staff Sergeant, most ppl are

Replying to @Nymphomachy
(Al Green almost certainly won because he was the first listed candidate, as they went alphabetically. Ballot order is super important!)

Replying to @lawnerdbarak
Note that Aaron Coleman _also_ has an alphabetically favorable name

Yeah Aaron Coleman vs. Stan Frownfelter is a really obvious advantage for Coleman both alphabetically and in terms of name normalcy
