What do you mean by "public life", exactly? I wouldn't support giving him a job as a talk show host or a tenured faculty position at a university either I have no objection to him going ahead and living the life the vast majority of 19-year-olds lead

What I think is getting people so heated in their defense of him is they identify with the idea of some 19-year-old rando sleepwalking his way into viral fame and becoming a public figure and they're mad at the media gatekeepers for trying to snatch that away

But the gatekeepers are doing their job This is a gate that should be kept There is no reason for this guy to be in any kind of position of leadership or power or influence at the age of 19

That you think there's something out of bounds about people getting upset about him running for elected office and saying in the strongest possible terms not to vote for him or elevate him further

Yes, getting upset about him running at all is *very strongly* opposing his candidacy, moreso than if he were just an ordinary bad candidate What's so weird or undemocratic about that

"Has no right" in what sense? Until someone actually proposes a constitutional amendment banning him from running, being categorically opposed to him running isn't at all the same thing

I do think he "has no right" to be running in the *moral* sense, as in he has no right to run for office without people jumping down his throat telling him to shut the fuck up and get the fuck out What's so chilling about that? There's millions of people that's true of

There's people that's true of who did stuff a lot less bad than what he did Kanye West didn't hurt anybody to nearly the same degree in nearly as direct a fashion, he just acts a fool and expresses terrible opinions, but people act like he has "no right to run" for President

I really hate this kind of "cancel culture" thing Like if you say you hate someone too harshly and loudly that's the same as censoring their free speech That's MY free speech
