This is such shit What he's done is *below* the bare minimum standard for being "apologetic", it's what a robot on autopilot would do just based on the fact that he has a political campaign to run still

If your standard for someone being "unapologetic" is that he needs to be shouting "Nope, what I did was awesome and I'm not sorry and I'd do it again!" then it's going to miss everybody Who gives a shit about being able to clear that bar

Like I keep saying, it's actually shocking just how bare-minimum his reaction has been Glenn Greenwald gave him a red-carpet opportunity to perform contrition and remorse on camera Any goddamn shitbird asshole would've known that interview was a chance to cue the waterworks

But when he was given a platform whose WHOLE PURPOSE was to just ACT SAD, to SAY SOMETHING about how much it hurt to think about the person he used to be, he could barely muster a few sentences about it He glosses right over it and goes into his stump speech

He put out an apology. He's not "apologetic."

There's a difference between saying, "I regret my actions" to an interviewer and actually apologizing to your victims.

Also his apology blames mental illness and minimizes the crime for being “only digital”

Neither he nor GG even glance at the accusation he harassed and showed up at the home of a member of the opposing campaign, too

“A sick and twisted 14 year old” does not magically turn into a reasonable 19 year old. What therapies, what atonement, how has he worked to take his crimes and pivot himself to be a reasonable adult? He best have a bill in his pocket that would address his own crime.

Yes! I keep saying it but victimizing someone and waiting a while doesn't show that you've changed or grown or learned or made amends. If anyone wants to say this has happened, what indicates such an alteration?
