I would... not prefer that he shoot up a school or that he become a serial rapist I would prefer he do none of these things, and also not run for public office

Coleman took a non-violent progressive path of running for office as a Berniecrat. No one else chose to run against the corporatist neoliberal Democrat incumbent. He told Glenn Greenwald today that he would have stood aside for such a candidate.

You know how I know he doesn't actually feel remorse? Because remorse means feeling bad about yourself and losing confidence in your own character and judgment Running for office at the age of 19 doesn't demonstrate that, it demonstrates tremendous self-confidence

There is no way to both be remorseful for your crimes and seek a position of significant public authority at the same time Having remorse means saying "I don't trust myself, I don't think I should have responsibility, I'm not qualified to tell other people right from wrong"

Hell, I wouldn't run for office, because I'm not confident that I'm qualified, that I wouldn't do more damage to a cause by associating it with me as a person than helping it MOST PEOPLE don't run for office, for that reason, which is a good reason

I get that your whole thing is that you think all existing elected officials are garbage and every ordinary person should feel empowered to run for office You picked exactly the worst possible example as the figurehead for your movement

Someone who has NO record of doing good things and ONLY has a record of doing bad things Because you have the breathtaking arrogance to think that simply "having good politics" counts as doing good things, as having a track record speaking to your character

leftists deciding that m4a was the sole acid test of True Leftism was dumb to begin with but it has also made it easier for predators to infiltrate left spaces

just show up, be really loud about m4a, and then if anyone criticizes you for being a misogynist shitbag call them a centrist neoliberal sellout

It's especially great when you're running for an office in the state legislature where your support for M4A is completely theoretical
