Hell, I wouldn't run for office, because I'm not confident that I'm qualified, that I wouldn't do more damage to a cause by associating it with me as a person than helping it MOST PEOPLE don't run for office, for that reason, which is a good reason

I imagine it occurred to the kid that if he ran this info would surface. Which would mean he reflected on his (recent, in the scheme of things) actions and concluded:
-
1) he could still get elected, and 2) this is something he doesn't really mind everyone knowing about. Both of those things tell me that he doesn't take his crime *nearly* serious enough.
