Who said anything about a permanent ban? Nobody wants to criminalize him or permanently disqualify him. But he committed some pretty serious crimes 6 years ago. Questioning his fitness for office right now is not a punishment or a cancellation, it’s common sense.

We’re talking about putting this guy in a position of trust and authority. Doesn’t it concern you at all that he has done nothing whatsoever to make amends for his crimes? Shouldn’t we demand some evidence of reform or restitution before moving on?

What message would it send to society? Or to Coleman himself (who is still developing)? That you can confess to extorting and sexually humiliating a child and then go on to be an elected representative before the statute of limitations would even have run out for an adult?

The fact that Coleman is still a minor also cuts both ways. We're not defined by what we do as children, but he's legally still a child. If he is a budding predator, letting him proceed with his career over the objections of his victims would make him even more dangerous.

Coleman is not a minor. He is 19, which makes him legally an adult. The abuse he perpetrated he did as a child diagnosed with PTSD.

Do you know what also fucks people up? Having nudes of you sent to your whole family by some bullying little creep at your school Sometimes it fucks you up so much that you almost kill yourself But I guess people who've been fucked up by that should just leave it in the past
