If the Dem standard now is anyone who does terrible things *as a child* is permanently disqualified from office -- no matter how awful & misogynistic his opponent is -- we'll be left with nothing but College Dem Presidents, trained from age 6 to run for Governor, and the Kennedys

Who said anything about a permanent ban? Nobody wants to criminalize him or permanently disqualify him. But he committed some pretty serious crimes 6 years ago. Questioning his fitness for office right now is not a punishment or a cancellation, it’s common sense.

Coleman’s youth at the time of the most serious offenses cuts both ways: He was hardened enough to be extorting nudes and distributing revenge porn as a tween. What does that suggest about what else he might be capable of?

We’re talking about putting this guy in a position of trust and authority. Doesn’t it concern you at all that he has done nothing whatsoever to make amends for his crimes? Shouldn’t we demand some evidence of reform or restitution before moving on?

(1/2)I have spoken to Aaron Coleman as one of his supporters from Social Democrats USA. He repeatedly offered to make amends to the girls he abused. However, they have blocked any attempt he made at the time (when he was 14) to contact them.

(2/2) I n light of this radio silence, Aaron feels that the best thing he can do is to fight for the progressive agenda, including a strong commitment to women's rights.

And you don't think he should have to spend a few years "working for women's rights" outside of a position of authority and trust first to prove his commitment to this cause, rather than being elected to office at the age of 19?
