Yeah this clusterfuck is bad, although in hindsight I don't even blame Netflix's marketing department as much as Qanon creeps ready to pounce on a "pedo Hollywood" headline (even though this is an indie film made in France) https://twitter.com/notallbhas/status/1296555732683427840 …

Jfc, its an NC-17 film about 11 year olds Pull your head out your ass with this Qanon crap, this is a real problem that is getting worse - your conflation is not helpful

It's TV-MA Throwing around shit like "It's NC-17, it's porn" is exactly what isn't helping, especially if you want an honest discussion of why the film is problematic All you're doing is help destroy the career of a Black woman filmmaker

It’s pretty easy for any movie that mentions anything frank about women’s sexuality to be given an “explicit content” rating, the industry has a loooooong history of this

Yeah but saying the movie is "NC-17" is just straight up lying to try to gin up a bigger mob

Not saying it isn’t; a “TV-MA” rating probably operates by the same prejudices

TV-MA is the equivalent of R, Netflix doesn't air the equivalent of NC-17 content (which would be content deemed unfit for public broadcast by the FCC)
