Stating as a fact that Catholics *have no choice* but to continue receiving sacraments from the Roman hierarchy and that apostasy *is not an option* makes her a pretty fundamental ideological enemy of mine There's no bad faith in that, that's taking her at her word

So cast iron facts are the reason you dislike her? This petty atheist need to make people recant their religions is why I regret being one.

I don't want to make her recant anything, I have no interest in her as a human being I reserve the right to make fun of her shitty beliefs and express my opposition to being in any group she's part of

If your problem with her is that she acknowledges that catholics need the catholic church then yeah, that’s exactly what you’re doing.

She's not acknowledging it, it's a truth she's trying to speak into existence and maintain the truth of by continuing to profess it (one of the pillars of a faith based worldview) Plenty of people leave the Church every day and don't burst into flame

It's not even really that she's opposed to, she's a fan of Rod Dreher and therefore a fierce opponent of liberal apostasy/heresy creeping into the Church

Stay here, don’t go over there. Do you acknowledge that Catholics need there to be a Catholic church?

Nope I mean, tautologically, they need that in order to remain Catholics, but they don't need to remain Catholics

It's as pointless a thing to argue as arguing that Republicans need there to be a Republican Party

Hell I would go further than that and say that it's clearly possible for Catholics to remain Catholic by their own personal definition of the term without meeting Liz's definition (of maintaining an unbroken tradition of confession going back to the imaginary time of St Peter)

And that Catholics as an actual demographic in the US are increasingly dominated by liberal "cafeteria Catholics" and Liz's whole objection that that's not real Catholicism is no one's problem but hers
