Actually this is obviously logically self defeating Obama and Harris are US citizens by right of birth The birther conspiracies that call the facts of their birth a series of lies are therefore logically saying THEY ARE NOT CITIZENS (arguing they would have to be naturalized)https://twitter.com/micahuetricht/status/1294071997077557250 …

The easiest way for liberals to destroy birtherism would be to lead a campaign to amend the Constitution to remove the clause requiring the president and vice president to have been born in the United States. Problem solved.

the quiet part is that noncitizens living in the US without legal status are subject to deportation, so they're basically arguing that Obama and Harris be detained in a prison camp and exiled

We should change the limitation regardless, but yeah - it wouldn't 'help' with birtherism.

It did seem a bit that way given his whole idea presumes birthers *are* arguing in good faith & would suddenly respect a change in rules, which they definitely are not and would not.

Not to mention that there are so many other constitutional amendments that should probably be made. Why waste the energy on this?

There does seem to be a widespread, though erroneous, belief that only people born in the US can become president.
