‘George Eliot’ joins 24 female authors making debuts under their real names - The Reclaim Her Name project, marking 25 years of the Women’s prize for fiction, will introduce titles including Middlemarch by Mary Ann Evanshttps://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/aug/12/george-eliot-joins-24-female-authors-making-debuts-under-their-real-names …

You should use the names they wrote under. Changing them is weird not feminist. You can't reclaim someone else's given name for them

Pride and Prejudice was published (first by "A Lady", then openly under Jane Austen's name) before George Eliot was born George Eliot was outed as Mary Ann Evans after the publication of Adam Bede in 1859; she continued to write as George Eliot anyway until her death in 1880

      Arthur Chu Retweeted George Eliot

There was no pretense of still keeping the secret after this -- Middlemarch, published 14 years after Eliot's identity was revealed, was openly dedicated to her husband George Lewes She specifically requested her work never be credited to her legal namehttps://twitter.com/GeorgeEliot_/status/1293652228662874113?s=20 …

      Arthur Chu added,

      George Eliot @GeorgeEliot_
I wish always to be quoted as George Eliot. Thanking you for your courteous solicitude on this point, I remain Yours very truly, M. E. Lewes.

Sure All of them were outed and had their legal identity publicly known during their lifetime, and none of them took active measures to have their work republished under their legal name I mean that's what this list IS, that's how they compiled it

Even without bringing gender into it, this is enough of a reason to consider this disrespectful. It would be the same if they were publishing Alice in Wonderland by Charles Dodgson - he clearly made the choice to publish his children’s fiction under the Lewis Carroll pseudonym.
