I think a lot about how the inevitability of former vice presidents winning presidential primaries, combined with the incompetence with which both pre-VP Biden and Harris ran in primaries before being selected, effectively indicates presidential primaries are non-democratic

Here's where the huge "generational" divide on the Democratic side comes into play. (Less in how old a voter is than in how long they've been Dems.) As the GOP hangs onto a "mostly white Christian" identity, the demographic changes in the USA hit the Dems harder.

Older Dems thought white feminism was radical enough. But I was a kid when Mondale/Ferraro ran, & I'm middle-aged now. Women in office is kind of old news to me, and also kind of, "Why isn't this already a normal thing?"
