I think a lot about how the inevitability of former vice presidents winning presidential primaries, combined with the incompetence with which both pre-VP Biden and Harris ran in primaries before being selected, effectively indicates presidential primaries are non-democratic
Is nominating someone who got eliminated early in the primaries worse than nominating someone who wasn't in the primaries at all

I'd say it depends. Kamala Harris' campaign was by all accounts incompetently run enough that it should have disqualified her for at least this year's ticket. Somebody who didn't run would have at least had plausible deniability

Perhaps bizarrely, I know a LOT of people who are REALLY pro-Harris. They're just a relatively select niche not well represented in more leftish Twitter.
