Yeah, the grain of actual meaning and motivation is really just him bitching about TV, and little else. Then a whole narrative about censorship and etc. got built up around it.

Yeah, it was borne of frustration with books getting less popular. He’s said on multiple occasions it’s not actually about censorship, but you were probably already aware of that.
