Something that's weirding me out about the Wolfenstein alternate history games is that I remember seeing the old DOS game played and like, it was NOT this level of tone. Like, walk you through your childhood racist abuse and trauma flashback tone

It feels like if DOOM had decided to make its modern incarnation grounded in the darkest elements of Mass Effect style imagery, or if they made a new Duke Nukem which tried to seriously confront the implied sexual violence of the old games

I don’t like how you have to worry about taking cover and stealth and shit. I went from Doom 2016 to The New Colossus and I immediately missed just running through and blasting away.

Which is, weirdly, truer to the VERY FIRST original source material Castle Wolfenstein from 1981 was a stealth game - one of the very first stealth games, in fact - and when id got the license to make Wolfenstein 3D they turned it into pure run-and-gun

It's kind of a fun full circle thing The first stealth game led to the first FPS, and then years later finally the two ideas combine into a stealth FPS
