I *don't* think there's more trans people in the US than the UK, that's your stupid argument

The issue is not trying to explain differing numbers of trans people, which really aren't significant across country lines The issue is explaining the UK's highly elevated level of TERFs

Because we have a higher standard of public education and still believe in critical thinking would be my guess? You brought up numbers of trans in US & UK, not me. You've now moved onto 'TERFs' you're all over the place.

No, you literally tried to make the absurd claim that "trans ideology" exists in the US because people are looking for a cheaper medical solution due to lack of health insurancehttps://twitter.com/markmair/status/1291280427953553409?s=20 …

I think you understand the point being made. Without universal healthcare people search for affordable alternatives. This creates a culture where snake oil salesmen flourish and science gets pushed to the side. You're a country that believes in TV evangelists and creationism FFS.

I did not say that, I did not say I thought there was any difference in the number of trans people between countries (because I don't think trans people are some recently invented cultural phenomenon) I don't even think *transphobia*, itself, is that different between countries

At least not general, passive cis discomfort with trans people and trans issues, which is all too universal I think virulent, active, *ideological* transphobia -- TERFism -- is very clearly a distinctive British cultural product

Still believing in science is a distinctive British cultural product along with whats left of critical thinking.

I'm glad that it always comes back to a ridiculous "Brits are just smarter than every other country in the world" argument And I'm the xenophobe Oh congrats on Brexit btw, that was a very scientifically sound decision

It's not that Britain is smarter than every other country in the world, it's that America is thicker. You're spot on about Brexit, an monumental act of self harm voted for by motivated morons that believed the hype. My country voted 62% remain and will soon be leaving the UK.

This is so contradictory it's hurting my head. If these are "distinctive British cultural products," then it's not that "America is thicker," it's that Britain is smarter - & than more than just the US. Also, you're waving the Union flag while endorsing an independent Scotland.

No, I can do the steelman version of the argument because I've heard it before, he's saying the US created trans ideology and is spreading it around the world but only Britain is strong-willed enough to resist Because they're so good at resisting the US at other times

If you let them keep rattling on sometimes they segue into arguing that trans ideology was created by the CIA to undermine real Marxist feminism or something
