It's not a stretch at all, a bunch of people suddenly shifting rightward after some kind of culture shock and beating on a minority in the process is extremely familiar, it's happened in my country in my lifetime multiple times

It could also be a clue that you might be wrong about the stance being a right wing one. At the very least it's a more parsimonious explanation than an entire generation of feminists suddenly becoming right wingers.

No, it isn't, that's a garbage argument "I'm a lifelong Democratic voter, that means that by definition my beliefs are left-liberal, including any new beliefs I suddenly start to become passionate about" Absolute affirming the consequent, do you even logic bro

"Ad hominem" goes in both directions, it applies just as much to saying someone must be right because they're a good person as saying someone must be wrong because they're a bad person

And I didn't say anyone must be either right or wrong. I didn't say anyone was a good or a bad person.

Okay well it doesn't have to be a value judgment either, it applies to the "neutral" statement "If this person is a Labour voter, that constitutes an argument their opinions objectively fit the definition of 'left-wing'"
