Haha imo it's basically an all-time great adaptation, though one that exposes flaws in the original (it's problematic!). I'd still watch all extended versions back to back for almost any excuse. Aragorn Girl for LIFE.

Even though she's the creator of the whole show anyway It's the same idea, they're an in-joke from her life before she became the creator of this show and they're an intrusion from a different "level of sub-creation" (as Tolkien would put it)

I mean TBF this is how hobbits came to be a part of Middle-earth too (The Hobbit was written for his kids but he couldn't help trying it in to his elaborate mythology).
