It's funny, I think my dad, who made decisions about what media I was allowed to consume as a kid, went through the following two decades of game narrative discourse in like two days when my brother gave me the original X-Wing and TIE Fighter as gifts

DAD, DAY ONE: Ellie can't play either game because she'll be desensitized to killing DAD, DAY TWO: Ellie can play X-Wing since you're the good guys in that and the war is just DAD, DAY THREE: Ellie, you have to also play TIE Fighter so you don't dehumanize the other side

(it was also a significant reversal from a couple of years earlier when my uncle asked me if my favorite color was red or blue, I said red without thinking, and he got me a red lightsaber as a present and my dad freaked out, worried I would become evil I guess)

I don't think he knew I didn't know the question was about lightsabers and just preferred red, abstractly, to blue I'm not honestly sure what 9 year old me would have said to "do you want a red or blue lightsaber toy"

I dunno. My uncle wasn't the nerdy one so he probably didn't remember it was an option

And in his defense the modern Star Wars franchise seems to have also forgotten that green is an acceptable saber color

It was tainted by Luke almost using a green lightsaber to kill young Ben

Even though the original blue one was not tainted by killing all the younglings They didn't have names

Also the Tusken children. Like if Excalibur was used to kill the children of rebels against the Lady of the Lake, it'd just feel unclean.
