And god forbid anyone talk about how rural carriers are severely understaffed and overworked.

It's yet another instance of 18th-century aristocrats somehow not predicting every problem that would come down the pike: the Constitution technically gives Congress the power to create a postal service, but not the obligation to. And the GOP doesn't even respect obligations.

Right! I am so sick of *liberal* people spouting the line about the USPS being profitable but that Congress forced it to prefund its pensions. Like, you're *validating* the premise that the USPS should be profitable at all!
-
Would it be profitable if it had to pay property taxes like UPS and FedEx?

I watched The Postman recently (terrible movie in so many ways) but kept thinking about your comments about it’s points about the necessity of easy communication between people for a functioning democracy being fundamentally correct.

Maybe if The Postman had been better made and an hour shorter more people would have seen it and taken its message to heart and maybe the Post Office would be in better shape right now. Damn you Kevin Costner’s ego!
