Has anyone explained to the Math Truth Warriors about the concept of a base 2 number system

If you need to refer to the numerals themselves and not the number they stand for you read the digits individually "11 = 4 in base-3" is read out loud as "One-one equals four in base three"

This is not completly accurate, languges also have bases. English uses base 10 but you could develop a lingual base 2 for it. Actually english used to have "hundred" as 120 and equivalents for "tenty" and "eleventy", so arguably originaly it's a duodec-decimal languge.

But of course the abstract mathematical objects, as they are, interact the same regardles of base.
