It's because the mantissa of "2 grams" isn't visible, it's below the level of precision being measured, therefore the quantities get rounded down separately and get rounded up when combined It's not really that hard

A true weight (at any given moment given that a complex living organism is constantly shedding and incorporating matter) definitely exists that is vastly different from what is provided by a scale that's that horribly broken. I just have a hard time measuring it with my tools.

In court, assuming I hadn't briefly borrowed a scale last week, I'd say that I can't know it unless afforded the use of one that works properly and with reasonable precision
