yeah s2 actually gets to the real affection between the siblings, whereas s1 had almost no affection between them at all in that respect it feels more believable as a weird fucked up family, for sure

In the comic, they played up the superpower lottery even more -- Diego's only superpower is that he can hold his breath indefinitely, which is a setup for him being the Batman of the team (he uses this ability to train harder than is normally humanly possible)

I like the idea that he has very limited telekinesis as a better "weak-but-surprisingly-effective" superpower though

They play around with the powers quite a bit. Alison never does the brains-blowing-up thing after the S2 premiere, and Diego's telekinesis gets a major upgrade just when the gang needs it.

when the swedes came for vanya i expected she was going to crater half the state, not just knock down some corn and send them running here we see an extremely common failure mode for superhero stories, "the powers we gave to the character do not suit the plot we have in mind"

She made a total copy of herself in one of the UA short stories set when she was a kid/teen. So her powers have always been a little inconsistent in the comics, too.
