As a formerly very overweight man who had to start thinking in terms of "calories" to get fit and healthy now, your statement about apples is 100% correct. "Two apples" is, in fact, a very different measurement than "446 grams of apples" or "334 grams of apples."

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that the science of dieting is a perfect example of what Kareem Carr was talking about. The variables going into how individual bodies take in and burn off calories are so numerous, thinking of it in absolutes would be idiotic.
