To bring up other scales or axioms in which 2+2=5 is disregarding the original context -the wildly obvious context- intended. Within this particular context it is objectively true that 2+2=4. There is no room for subjectivity of any kind.

The use of the term "subjectivism" here is culture war bullshit that's beating on a strawman, that's my whole point

There is no such thing as a "subjectivist" or its opposite, an "objectivist", in reality If you think that's what the two sides are here you're being an asshole

I was entirely civil with you and you responded by calling me something nasty. This is the impossibility of conversation James Lindsey is talking about. I will not suffer ad hominem.

is it even worth pointing out that that wasn't in any way shape or form an argumentum ad hominem

Correct. As the argument was addressed, there is no ad hominem fallacy . They are just being a big baby about it.

I stand corrected. I used language a bit sloppily. While it was not the fallacy of ad hominem, I was using the term as a catch all for going after my character. It was sloppy.

And this is another tactic I love. Splitting hairs in terminology to create distinctions without difference. As if there is a world of difference between insulting me and going after my character. Insults are designed to point at a defect in a person's character- real or not.

If you don't understand the difference between "You are wrong, therefore you are a bad person" and "You are a bad person, therefore you are wrong" you aren't as good at logic as you claim to be

I already stated I was being sloppy by referring to it as the fallacy of ad hominem. I'm just saying it's lousy to insult a person who's being civil with you. Do you want to argue about that? Do you really think that's how one goes about reasonable discourse?
