Also his world building is probably worse than hers, it just hides behind "oh but this is a pun see?" And only works if you haven't read Robert aspirin or Terry Pratchett to down the street that you can do that and still have some sort of actual world building

The counterpoint I guess is from a practical standpoint is that Piers Anthony is not the most beloved children's author in the world or anywhere close to it, so you have to factor in how influential they've actually been

I have to wonder if he has one of the worst 'read book 1' to 'finished the series' conversion rates among readers. e.g. I liked the first two Incarnations of Immortality when I read them at 13 or 14, third was OK, then I stopped. They went on for 8 books.
