It's going to be impossible to be a Harry Potter fan and not actively be a TERF within a year Not so much because of the people "canceling" Harry Potter so much as the TERFs, who can never stop talking about TERF shit, loudly colonizing the fandom It's fun to watch

We'll see. On the other hand, you have the fact that large parts of the fandom are trying to distance themselves from JKR. For instance, the two biggest Harry Potter fansites have both removed almost all references to her and made it clear they don't support her anymore.

I respect what Leaky Cauldron and Mugglenet are trying to do but this is going to be an extremely difficult tightrope to walk, when JKR is still directly involved in managing the brand and is still actively cranking out new content

You can say that simply having an HP fansite or making HP fanfic and fanart isn't supporting her - I think this is incorrect, but we could argue that It is completely impossible to argue that covering the release of Fantastic Beasts 3 and doing red carpet interviews etc isn't

If you don't cover FB3 when it comes out then you're really obviously not doing what an ordinary person would expect from a "Harry Potter fansite" Same if JKR were to unexpectedly drop a new Harry Potter book or a new VR video game She'd be backing you right into a corner

People are treating the "Death of the Author" thing like JKR herself literally is dead, like she's HP Lovecraft and we can just take her problematic content and remix it to our heart's content and forget about the originator But you really can't She is very much alive

One of the best things about LotR is the fact that JRR Tolkien is not currently alive and on Twitter

We should make it a rule not to publish anything until after the author is dead
