In terms of refusing to abandon intersectionality just to win debates cheaply... I'll just say that I've seen far, far fewer trans people and trans allies say shit like "Well Caitlyn Jenner is RICHER than you so she's BETTER than you" than TERFs saying it about JK Rowling

(Although making Nagini into an *Asian* human in particular was kinda racist) But no, there's been a steady buildup of annoyance at JKR for a while now, and an ongoing backlash to the books' outsize popularity ("Read another book!" is a meme about it)
-
Oh, come on, would the woman who created the deep, well-researched, very three-dimensional character of Cho Chang treat the character of Nagini with anything other than absolute care and respect? I think not!

very ironically, GC types only care about JK Rowling because she hates trans people but the Very Online people, who like trans people and often know about or are involved in fandoms, have already hated JK Rowling for years for a host of other reasons
-
also you mention there's a lot of non-“political” reasons people don't like her, but there are also a few “political” reasons people already didn't like her that have nothing to with trans people

In the book universe wizards don't wear pants Probably for this exact reason in fact
