The muscular Israeli femme supersoldier thing is a meme, it's the idea behind those glamor photos Gal Gadot took that they used for recruiting ads

It is funny that there's kind of a genderbent dynamic here, that Mel is obviously resentful and insecure because she feels like she has to be the nurturing and responsible team mom (and is about to become an actual mom) And can't be the badass action hero of Owen's dreams

I never looked up EXACTLY which scenes were part of the leaks, but I could kind of actually see where the Abby = trans thing could have been a good faith interpretation by someone if they got one or both of the scenes where she seems upset that Mel *and not her* got pregnant

Well, athletes with extremely low body fat often do have fertility issues as a result

But yeah I mean as a thematic thing it's definitely there, that Abby is not the kind of girl Owen can imagine settling down and starting a family with, he's torn between competing desires

I might have to replay the scene where he tells Abby Mel is pregnant but I always assumed Mel was a rebound and the pregnancy was unintended

I mean because of Parallelism Owen clearly only found out about Mel's pregnancy when they reached Jackson, probably the previous day, and he was with her for four or five months before, so she's not *just* a rebound

I don't really think that they have The Pill in post apocalyptic Seattle although I guess if anyone did it would be Jerry's supposed top student. So I'm not sure what an "unplanned" pregnancy is, in a world where they probably mostly just have the rhythm method

She's his top student who conveniently wasn't there during the most important operation of his life that was going to save the world, unlike Laura Bailey's unnamed previous character

Well Abby says "my dad always said you were his top student" And, again, any gameplay choice to kill optional characters was clearly retconned out, and Jerry died by a clean gunshot wound Unless Abby's PTSD is editing the memory like Ellie's does later

Yeah well maybe the retcon is she actually is the "YOU ANIMAL" lady, which would be kind of ironic

That would actually make the "who are you?" "Guess" interaction make sense
