Though his decision was portrayed as being high risk high reward. The Seraphites were winning the war and claiming ground. They needed to strike when they could while they still had enough numbers

Or make peace, which would have been the right option. The fact the Seraphite leadership agreed to several truces after Issac executed their Prophet is proof there was enough anti-war sentiment to make peace viable (if they kept at it).

I mean Isaac, Manny, and Abby both give the"hawk" case against that, that the two sides just hate each other too much and someone will start Ye Olde Cycle of Violence again I do agree with Arthur,as third rail as it may be,that Druckmann probably is referencing his birth country

I think it's very clear that no one is meant to be a clear one to one map to one side or the other of that conflict, like nuBSG did, and Druckmann's public statements back up that he's referencing more his general feelings on violence and fighting over land than direct things

But I think the reason the article saying that WLF are clearly Israel and Seraphites Palestine and it's obviously pro-Israeli is DEFINITELY wrong and can be debunked is that Druckmann referenced the Israeli propaganda video of the killing of settlers as an inspiration - >

and clearly when you look back at those remarks he's saying he intends for the scene where Abby kills Joel to be metaphorically like that video was for him, to inspire hate but then make you regret giving in to it Which means if it were a direct metaphor the Wolves are Palestine

But clearly they're not, and there are things they do that are more like Israel, and it just seems really obvious that Owen is Druckmann's self insert as someone who left Israel and the West Bank "Tired of fighting over land I don't give a fck about anymore"

So point being, neither fictional side is supposed to be either real side, but I don't think Druckmann would have green lighted a song about "crossing over Jordan," you know, the river the West Bank is a bank of, as the final credits duet song if he wanted the convo to avoid this

Plus the downright hellish, fiery mutual-destruction that consumes the Seraphite Island during the invasion seems to be a vision of how Druckmann fears the I/P conflict will end.

The fact that in the final ending no one even *mentions* either faction in any capacity seems to indicate it was a successful mutual genocide yes

It's kind of interesting how people rag on the Rattlers as being 2D pure evil bad guys just so we can have an action sequence in the ending without introducing further moral dilemmas

But I mean there's a thematic thing there, that both the WLF and the Seraphites started with positive intentions and real ideals they fought for and after being destroyed by their own corruption all that's left is straight up assholes
