Funny because I've seen things that say her sales are not affected. Depends which source you look at.

The Guardian article just says that children's book sales went up in general due to COVID-19 and has a quote that HP is "still a bestseller" but avoids making any specific comment about the percentage change in HP's sales

Because the data showing HP's sales have not kept up with the increase in sales of other books is correct They're just reduced to weak arguments that only sound strong if you leave out the context "But the numbers did go up!"

But a lot of her books have been around awhile, so probably just the same as other writers.

except most if not all other writers did a lot better than her, thats the entire point.

No the point is if her books have been around awhile then they will sell less, that is the same with all authors. The hit of 1995 is not going to be the hit of 2020

Do you think JK Rowling is the only author in the world with books still in print from before a few years ago

No that wasn't my point though

If the discrepancy were just between old books and new ones no one would have noticed JKR's figures sticking out

Funny that because every book shop I go in she's on the top twenty shelf and on my ebook 4 of her books are on the popular list

Yup all those other articles were a pure TRA conspiracy to cook the books, you've cracked it

They asked an analyst from the NPD Group, which does market research for publishing, specifically about this issue and she specifically said that, yes, JK Rowling's sales are lagging behind the curve to a significant degree not visible this time last year
