Yeah he didn't say JK Rowling wasn't rich, he was saying being rich is not a sign of desert or virtue

Nah she's a bad writer and what's worse than that is she's profoundly lazy

The latter, especially, is extremely hard to argue with Like she caught SO MUCH SMOKE for the "Wizards shit on the floor" thing and it would have been so incredibly simple to just read that piece a couple of times and take that out

I will defend the original novels for what they were, obviously not Shakespear but effective at reaching many young people who felt isolated in real life (myself included). But ever since then her ego and transphobia have poisoned her mind and even ruined the books in many ways.

Ego, says the people criticising books that have sold millions

which is why I said I defend them. Doesn't mean the author is immune from critique especially when she's utterly unable to face it and try to improve on it.

You're assumption she needs to improve

any writer (or other artists and creative people) worth their salt always strives to improve themselves. That is what criticism is ultimatively about. Failing that her recent performances were abysmal compared to every other writer .https://variety.com/2020/film/news/jk-rowling-book-sales-harry-potter-1234708777/ …

Funny because I've seen things that say her sales are not affected. Depends which source you look at.

The Guardian article just says that children's book sales went up in general due to COVID-19 and has a quote that HP is "still a bestseller" but avoids making any specific comment about the percentage change in HP's sales

Because the data showing HP's sales have not kept up with the increase in sales of other books is correct They're just reduced to weak arguments that only sound strong if you leave out the context "But the numbers did go up!"

But a lot of her books have been around awhile, so probably just the same as other writers.
