It's super egregious since I'm not 100% sure but I'm fairly certain Sole Survivor is Shepard's most popular origin

And I mean, like, I don't think the Cerberus collaboration was utterly unsalvageable IN 2010 WHEN GROUPS LIKE CERBERUS WEREN'T LITERALLY RAMPAGING IN THE STREETS, but there still should have been drama especially for the Sole Survivor.

Like, at the very least the ability for Shepard to be like DUDE. ILLUSIVE MAN. SPACE BARTLETT. APPRECIATE THE FREE SHIP AND HORNY PSYCHOLOGIST BUT ***YOU KILLED MY FCKING SQUAD AND WHEN THIS IS OVER YOU WILL PAY***. Something like that

That's basically how I responded to him every single time. I mean, my playthrough was Paragon all the way, but I ALWAYS answered Renegade to the Illusive Man. Yet every conversation ended somewhat like "I WILL DO AS I PLEASE, YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE! 'Kay talk to you later, bye xoxo"

Two things REALLY strained my credulity in ME2: 1) the Illusive Man is cool with you going against his wishes like, the entire until the final choice that finally makes him Mad 2) he apparently put no failsafes in place to coerce compliance from Shepard when he rebuilt her

It was, to be blunt, an extremely video gamey setup, even more than the basic idea of a Spectre already had been in 1

I think even Yahtzee pointed out that the second ME feels way more obviously video gamey than the first because it dispenses with more pretentious trappings like the film grain and the stealth loading screen of your body being decontaminated in the airlock

The big change i noticed was the cover system. Me1 favored storage crates and walls while the sequels had a lot more chest high walls of video game cover. The new cover played better but power bombed immersion

You should see some of the houses I toured with my parents when they were looking for a place. Some places really have chest high walls WE HAVE NO IDEA WHY

They're walls for nice neighborhoods where a wall you actually can't climb over would be rude, by implying you're the kind of person who'd try to climb over them

Yeah, though those nice neighborhoods tend to value privacy!
