I think even Yahtzee pointed out that the second ME feels way more obviously video gamey than the first because it dispenses with more pretentious trappings like the film grain and the stealth loading screen of your body being decontaminated in the airlock

The big change i noticed was the cover system. Me1 favored storage crates and walls while the sequels had a lot more chest high walls of video game cover. The new cover played better but power bombed immersion

Here I am, a player character in a Bioware game, about to enlist in the military "Have you given any thought to what branch and MOS you intend to pursue" No all of that stuff is just backstory for when the plot starts and I become a supersoldier with near total autonomy

I'm only wearing this uniform and abiding by regulations until the crisis starts and they suddenly find all these reasons to let me wear whatever I want and do whatever I want and give me the standard issue awesome ship/fortress for me and my ragtag band of companions
