...no you tried to claim it was libelous to call someone racist, which is silly, but the reason you think so is because... you are a racist

I thought calling someone racist was libellous but am happy to admit I was wrong, however the point still stands that there is a difference between defamation and criticism and an LA Times journalist should know this.

And a billionaire engaging in obvious lawfare is working to obscure that distinction to her own benefit, yes

Defending your reputation is not lawfare otherwise libel law has no purpose.

It's the new idiot merry go round where misgendering someone is a crime requiring police attention but nakedly lying about someone, claiming they are hateful bigots, is merely banter and they have no right to defend themselves, even at their own expense.

Nobody has said that misgendering is a "crime requiring police attention" and the high-profile cases of "woke gone mad" that people describe as such are them distorting cases of actual prolonged harassment and threats

Yes, this happens all the time with hate crime legislation Misgendering in and of itself isn't a hate crime, especially if it's an honest mistake It's *part of* a hate crime if it occurs in the context of harassment or abuse, it's *evidence* that it was motivated by transphobia

But reactionaries of course don't care and they'll jump on such cases and go "These days, if you call a trans woman 'him', you'll be arrested and thrown in jail" "Actually thrown in jail?" "Yes, these days"

The case TERFs love to bring up, Caroline Farrow vs. Susan Green, was not Farrow randomly misgendering Green in passing It was part of Farrow launching a day-long tirade at Green accusing her of mutilating and abusing her child and saying her daughter should be taken away
