JKR is these people's worst nightmare - an intelligent successful woman with an opinion that she can express clearly and eloquently, and who is scared of debate. Hence the lack of debate and the overabundance of, ironically, hate speech and name-calling.

Nope. She couldn't have been more fulsome in her clarification of her position. And when someone publishes something defamatory about you, you don't debate it because it's been done and is actionable.

She didn't- and demonstrably would not have - sued over someone saying her position was 'bad.' She sued over someone stating that she had used hate speech that causes harm to a defined group.
