Even IF Jerry had created a vaccine, he gives it to what, forty people? a hundred people? Does it magically stop the cordyceps from growing elsewhere? Does it rebuild necessary infrastructure? Does it make a clicker any less hideously lethal? Nope!

Look, there's plenty of post-apocalyptic fiction that trades in this optimistic "We will rebuild! Humanity always finds a way!" attitude It was extremely fashionable during the so-called Golden Age of SF TLOU really, really obviously ain't it
