If you've ever tried playing a SNES ROMhack that uses MSU-1 audio, it's... uncanny It's basically a gadget that turns the Super Famicom into whatever the Sega Mega CD equivalent of that would be in an alternate dimension Super Mario World and it's just randomly orchestral music

Yeah, it's so weird to realize the implications of how things worked on early consoles. The cartridge didn't have room for sound files, so they basically had sheet music that gets played by the "instruments" the console had Swap out a chip & it's a totally different band playing
