Seems to me like the brokescold numpty didn't get past the misleading headline. What the article is describing is actually a *greater* focus on (descriptive) grammar, unpacking the actualities of different vernaculars if need be as opposed to glossing over such differences.

What's being rejected reads to me like just ignoring AAVE grammar use: “the familiar dogma that writing instruction should limit emphasis on grammar/sentence-level issues so as to not put students from multilingual, non-standard ‘academic’ English backgrounds at a disadvantage”.
