I don't want to get too into confronting superstition with FACTS and LOGIC but just think about the spiritual implications of the fact that this is being treated as a crisis BECAUSE THEY POSTED ABOUT THIS ONLINE If they "hexed the moon" and never told you how would you know

Consciously or not, they're inventing a form of religion in which the gods also think of social media as real life

I never saw the original story, just tweets referring to it. Are people actually worried about this?
-
There's a thread people are retweeting and screen capping where someone is, in fact, taking it Very Seriously.

I wouldn’t say this is a thing that any serious practitioner thinks of this as a crisis. At least, not because anyone thinks that a few kids could actually hex the moon....
-
Some are appalled by the arrogance to do such a thing. And there is a sense that many (young) people are practicing foolishly and could get hurt. But no one seriously thinks the moon (or the fae) have been harmed by baby witches.

I was thinking about this... Like was the moon always vulnerable to any inexperienced witches, and the only thing protecting it from being hexed was that no-one even considered it
-
No. I believe the idea that every new practitioner has ultimate power is about two days old.
