yeah, because most people who are criticizing the game have probably not been in that situation or if they had, they coped with it differently. So they feel entitle to say, well I would not do what Ellie does, so the game is bad.

I know every time I’m drowning a emaceated person after my fingers as bit off durning the zombie apocalypse I would do that. I’ve only been in that situation once.

Generally it's something you should do once at most

I’m already down a finger after that bad decision in the Cracks of Doom so I’ll pass.

I'm still kind of astonished that Ellie's specific injury is foreshadowed in Abby's Day One by Manny joking to an injured soldier who may lose fingers that he "only needs three" [to pleasure a woman]

I thought the implication was that you only need three to either fire a gun or to jerk off.

I've heard it specifically referred to as the number needed to.. you know, with a vagina. The soldier's reaction ("oh my God") seems to indicate it's that or jerking off at least. In any case, it specifically foreshadows what happens at the end

One thing people miss about the tragic ending is that Ellie didn't lose her whole hand, or all the fingers on her hand It IS possible to play the guitar with only three fingers left, just barely

Django Reinhardt, one of the most legendary guitarists in history, played three-fingered after losing all the feeling in two fingers after an accident (Not the same as not having those fingers at all, but still)

Or she could in theory switch to playing left-handed Either way Her ability to play has been badly damaged, maybe she'll never be as good as she could've been or as Joel was in his prime But it's not completely gone
