A hostile work environment is actionable if it occurs due to discrimination due to membership in a protected class Not if people are hostile to you because you do bad work

Let's be clear, it might indeed make the world a better place if there were some universal law that you weren't allowed to have coworkers or bosses be mean to you no matter how bad you are at your job But it should start with teenagers working at McDonald's, not NYT columnists
